Is anyone running this website? Shouldn’t a website that holds itself out as an “industry newswire” check out the person writing it’s articles? This woman has zero experience in the Christian industry outside of short stint as a DJ (and we all know that DJ’s are the top of the industry’s food chain…NOT!). You can tell as she hasn’t obviously hasn’t heard any Christian music since the mid 90’s as all her references are pre-1998.

If Miss Egnew wishes to bash the church – fine. If she has issues with the way the Montana festival promotes itself – call them and find out why then write about that.

But don’t bill this as some sort of “expert” piece on one of the only genres that has increased its product and concert sales over the last ten years.

    Thanks for listening!

You can’t say you follow Christ and then also say that you believe there are many ways to get to God – since Christ never led us that way. He said he was the only way.

This is petty and irrelevant. Music is music. It’s about the emotions it gives us, how it makes us feel, etc. It’s not about marketing and labeling.

First off all, I didn’t know that we had to label music festivals. Woodstock did not have a genre clause. Bonnaroo does not, but what you are saying is that it should. I didn’t know people needed clarification to enjoy something.

Secondly, it has nothing to do shame. Once again, music is about how you wrap yourself into it. My boyfriend is not Christian and has a long list of bands that are “Christian” bands that he enjoys. Most of them he doesn’t even know are “Christian.” I am Christian and disagree with “Christian” artists remaking their songs with different lyrics. However, I support integration. Switchfoot is a great example of a band that can go either way.

And for the love of all things intelligent, don’t call it bait and switch. If you listen to those artists, you would know whether or not you enjoy them. Most people don’t randomly go to music festivals. They do research first and go to see bands they already enjoy. This is not deceptive.

Grow up. Find security in your faith/religion/being/spirituality/whatever. Don’t take it out Christian music. From now on, I’m going to slap a label on you and your music. I’m putting it into a little box. That’s what you want, right?
