MUSEWIRE – Music News: “SUBOTNICK: Portrait of an Electronic Music Pioneer,” the documentary from Waveshaper Media about seminal electronic music composer Morton Subotnick, is now available for streaming/VOD purchase on several platforms including Tubi, Amazon, Night Flight, Vimeo, and more, as of Nov. 11, 2025.
“SUBOTNICK: Portrait of an Electronic Music Pioneer” explores the life of electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick. At 90 years of age, he has become a cult figure for a whole new generation that have come to recognize him as “The Father of Techno.”
Featuring live performances captured in surround sound and augmented with innovative liquid-light psychedelic effects, Subotnick is a multimedia experience that highlights and celebrates one of the world’s most influential living composers.

According to the company, “After a few years of international screenings and searching for a distributor to handle the digital release of SUBOTNICK, we recently managed to secure a distribution deal with MVD Entertainment Group earlier this year.”
The film has finally been released digitally, and is AVAILABLE NOW, via several digital streaming and VOD platforms, including TUBI, Amazon, Vimeo, and Night Flight.
Waveshaper Media will also be releasing a BluRay edition of “SUBOTNICK” via MVD sometime in 2026, which will be packed with some great bonus features, including “something very special indeed,” which the company will be announcing soon.
