ContinuuCon 2024 Electronic Music Conference Scheduled for Pittsburgh in April, with Tickets Now on Sale
PITTSBURGH, Pa. / MUSEWIRE – Music News / — This year’s ContinuuCon 2024 Electronic Music Conference will take place in the U.S. for those who have been unable to avail themselves of some of the exotic locales around the world of prior years. The sixth international Haken Continuum Conference, is returning to the U.S. on April 26–28. This year’s event will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Musicians, sound designers, software developers, and music enthusiasts are invited to explore the world’s most uniquely expressive electronic musical instruments through presentations, performances, and hands-on experiences.
ContinuuCon is an annual convention of owners and enthusiasts of the Haken Continuum Fingerboard and related Eaganmatrix-based electronic musical instruments. ContinuuCon consists of an opening reception, two days of workshops/seminars, and fellowship with Continuum and EaganMatrix enthusiasts. Musicians from around the world attend and participate. Previous iterations of ContinuuCon have taken place in Asheville (NC), Paris (France), and Palmela (Portugal). 2024 will mark the 6th convening of ContinuuCon, this time in Pittsburgh.
The Haken Continuum Fingerboard is an instrument born to be as expressive and as rewarding to play as an acoustic instrument. The uniquely designed sensitive playing surface has been symbiotically merged with its powerful synthesis sound engine to produce a truly unique playing experience. The Continuum is a holistic electronic instrument that puts its player at the heart of a uniquely fluent, gestural and intuitive musical playing experience.
According to the event organizers, “As always, ContinuuCon will focus on every instrument that features the Haken Continuum’s internal sound engine the EaganMatrix, including the Continuum Fingerboard, ContinuuMini, EaganMatrix Module for Eurorack, and Expressive E Osmose synthesizer.”
ContinuuCon 2024 will begin with an evening reception on April 26. Over the next two days, Continuum inventor and EaganMatrix developers Lippold Haken and Edmund Eagan will join other authorities and some of the world’s most skillful Continuum players to share their expertise and technical knowledge.
NO CONCERT THIS YEAR
It was decided by the committee that there will not be a ContinuuConcert this year. However, in lieu of that, we invite artists to submit video performances to be projected onto a screen during the opening reception.
ContinuuCon 2024 is April 26 to 28, 2024, at:
Carnegie Free Library of Carnegie, PA.
300 Beechwood Avenue
Carnegie, PA 15106
The conference will be held in the Studio room, a modern lecture hall/concert venue downstairs.
As of Feb. 13, the organizers are still sorting the agenda; hope to have info on that soon, but this year there is a special emphasis on presentations that include performance during the presentation.
Tickets can now be purchased online at (Eventbrite):

About Haken Audio’s Instruments
The Continuum Fingerboard is a polyphonic electronic instrument that offers continuous multidimensional performance control by responding to each finger independently. The ContinuuMini is a smaller, more affordable duotactic model based on the same technology. Inside is the EaganMatrix, a user-programmable digital modular synthesizer taking full advantage of the supple playing surface’s myriad performance possibilities.
Designed by Dr. Lippold Haken and hand-built in his basement, each Continuum Fingerboard is meticulously constructed by hand for optimal quality and longevity. This again is where Haken Audio separates itself from large electronic music manufacturers. Haken Audio looks upon itself like a hand-built guitar manufacturer would.
Building small numbers and carefully crafting the instrument with love and attention to detail is the ethos of Dr. Lippold Haken. The new Slim Continuums (not shown) are available in two versions: Slim70 70s8x (70 half steps) and Slim46 46s8x (46 half steps). The recently-released ContinuuMini gives Continuum fans a smaller instrument with a lower price of entry into the Continuum Fingerboard family.
