Paula Cole Sings for Fans with ‘Ballads’ Album Funded On Kickstarter
Singer/songwriter Paula Cole is funding her new album from the ground up on Kickstarter. Recently Cole launched her campaign to fund an 8th studio album, to be called “Ballads,” which she described on her funding page as so: “‘Ballads’ is a weaving of American roots music; my first album of cover songs. I can honestly say I’ve been wanting to make this album my whole career. There will be jazz ballads next to traditional songs and swing and blues – it’s all roots music.”
She adds, “I will self-produce live recording sessions featuring some of the greatest musicians in the music business today, paying tribute to some of our beloved masters of yesterday — Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bobbie Gentry to name a few.
“I need your help to fund live recording sessions in a professional studio, accommodating brilliant musicians and their instruments coming from various parts of America (Dennis Crouch from Nashville, TN – Chris Bruce and Jay Bellerose from Los Angeles, for instance), mixing and mastering sessions to complete the audio. Also the cost of art design, production of CDs, vinyl and T shirts will be covered by this campaign.”
At last I will make the jazz/roots album of cover songs I have longed to make my entire career.
The Kickstarter campaign will help Paula raise the $60K needed funds for this special projects, and backers will receive copies of the album and other goodies. Anticipated release of “Ballads” is expected to be early 2017; regular announcements through Paula’s social media.
If funded, the money raised will help fund live recording sessions in a professional studio, accommodating brilliant musicians and their instruments coming from various parts of America (Dennis Crouch from Nashville, TN – Chris Bruce and Jay Bellerose from Los Angeles, for instance), mixing and mastering sessions to complete the audio. Also the cost of art design, production of CDs, vinyl and T shirts will be covered by this campaign.

UPDATE: the Kickstarter campaign was fully funded on July 6, 2016, and Paula posted the following message to all her supporters for this effort:
So I’m just eating dinner and don’t want to be rude to my dinner guest as my phone is next to me on FIRE. And then I check and I just want to die. We’ve hit the goal sooner than I anticipated and today was a FURY of LOVE and SUPPORT and I just want to say I am here with the hugest smile and depth of feeling of gratitude for you. You are beautiful, you are kind, you are loving. You help me go on in a business I occasionally want to abandon but for the love of music and YOU. I freaking LOVE you guys. Thank you for helping me make this album this summer. I will keep in touch with my updates as to our progress with this album I am already loving.
From the road, the studio, the garden, from all places of my heart&soul,
I love you! Thank you!
Paula.
